Monthly And Yearly Trading Statements For Bolsas y Mercados Españoles Markets - The Value Of Equity Turnover On The Spanish Stock Exchange In 2006 Was € 1.15 Trillion, 36% Up On 2005

Equities

In December trading in equities on the Spanish market through SIBE amounted to € 114.96 bn, which represents a year on year increase of 92%. The number of trades was € 2.07 million, 55% up on the year.

The annual turnover was € 1.15 trillion, 36% up on 2005. The number of trades during this period was 22.95 million, 34% up on the previous year. Both figures are the highest ever posted in the history of the Spanish stock exchange.

The value of trading on Latibex in December came in at € 43 million. The accumulated value of trading on Latibex up to end of December was € 717 million, 29% up on 2005. The number of trades increased by 42%. These figures represent an annual record high in the value of trading in the history of this market.

As for the exchange traded funds segment, the effective trading volume posted in December was € 350 million. Since its creation in July 2006, the trading volume recorded by this market has exceeded € 1.82 bn.

The return on the IBEX 35® index was 2.15% in December, bringing the accumulated return on the index from January to 31.79%. The return on the IBEX 35® with dividends in the same period was 36.04%. The return on the IBEX MEDIUM CAP® and IBEX SMALL CAP® indices in 2006 was 42.09% and 54.45% respectively. The accumulated return on the FTSE Latibex Top was 18.25%

Warrants and Certificates

Turnover on the warrants and certificates market in December was € 228 million, 74% up on the same month in 2006. The number of trades amounted to 37.556, 51% up on December 2005.

The accumulated figures for the year 2006 came in at € 2.96 bn on 483,315 trades, posting increases of 34% and 36% on 2005 respectively. These are the highest figures recorded by the market since its creation.

The number of warrants admitted to trading on the market in 2006 reached 4,063 after the 140 new issues admitted to trading by the Exchange on December 29th.

Futures and options

Trading volume in MEFF Options and Futures in December was 5.67 million contracts. It is worth mentioning the heavy trading in IBEX 35 Futures, with 546,832 contracts traded, 37% up on the same month 2005.

The annual trading figures for MEFF reached a record high in 2006, with 47 million contracts and a 17% increase on 2005.

The product breakdown showed record highs for IBEX 35 Futures, with 6.4 million contracts, 30% up year on year, Stock Futures, with 21 million contracts and a 12% increase on the year, MINI Futures, with 1.6 million and a 40% increase on 2005 and IBEX 35 Options, with 5.5 million and a 25% year on year increase.

Corporate Debt

The value of trading on AIAF in December was € 86.30 bn, 32.1% up on the same month in 2005.

The value trading on this market in 2006 came in at € 900.20 bn, 3.2% more than in 2005.

New issues admitted to trading on this market in December amounted to € 45.62 bn, 9.2% up on the same month 2005. The number of new admissions in 2006 came in at € 508.25 bn, 23.4% up on 2005. The outstanding balance at year end 2006 was € 588.94 bn, 33.1% up on the year.

Net financing provided for the private sector through AIAF in 2006 was € 146.52 bn, 9% up on the year.

SENAF

In December trading volume on the public debt trading platform SENAF was € 10.53 bn, leaving a yearly figure for 2006 of € 179.21 bn and a market share of 68% of the trading conducted on the domestic platforms.

As regards Bonds and Obligations, there was an increase in trading in these products in 2006, at € 89.73 bn, 55.2% up on 2005.
