MGEX (Minneapolis Grain Exchange or Exchange) April trading volume reached 116,179 contracts. This marks a 23 percent increase over the previous April and 51 percent increase over March 2009.
The Exchange set its all-time monthly volume record for electronic trading with 100,633 contracted traded in April. This surpasses the previous record of 82,931, set in October 2008, a 21 percent increase.
MGEX posted six of its top 20 electronic trading days in April, with the all-time daily record of 10,350 set on Tuesday, April 21. Four of these records were set during the week of April 20 to April 24 marking the highest electronic trading volume week in MGEX history with 35,272 contracts traded.
