Minneapolis Grain Exchange And WeatherBug® Begin Joint Marketing Venture

Date 23/02/2009

MGEX (Minneapolis Grain Exchange or Exchange) is proud to announce a joint marketing venture with WeatherBug®, the world's leading provider of live, local weather information for consumer and professional users.

To begin this venture, MGEX and WeatherBug® will exhibit together at the 2009 Commodity Classic. This will take place February 26-28 in Grapevine Texas with over 200 businesses presenting top of the line products and services in the commodity industry. In addition, WeatherBug® and MGEX will cross-promote on their respective Web sites.

WeatherBug® will be available on www.mgex.com as a service to MGEX market participants providing information from more than 8,000 weather stations and 1,000 cameras stationed strategically around North America as well as locations from its expansion into western Canada.

“Weather has a large impact on commodity markets. With the local, up-to-the-minute information WeatherBug® provides, our market participants will have the ability to take advantage of the most effective weather information possible,” said Rita Maloney, director, marketing and business development of MGEX. “The partnership with WeatherBug® helps create a one-stop shop for MGEX market participants and web site visitors. MGEX is pleased to partner with the WeatherBug® brand.”

Farmers are able to use WeatherBug® tools to make decisions on pest control, spray operations, soil moisture monitoring and many other decisions that may help maximize yields. Speculators, millers and other market participants use this information for pricing decisions.

“We are very pleased to have a joint-marketing agreement with the Minneapolis Grain Exchange,” said Jim Anderson, director of new business services, WeatherBug®. “Our expansion in Canada has proven to be extremely successful with hundreds of farmers and agri-businesses who are gaining operational benefits from the WeatherBug® Network of live weather stations. With today’s announcement, we can now provide that same information to the many market participants who are part of the MGEX community.”

WeatherBug® will also provide weather information for the www.mgex.com/realestate Web site to provide visitors real-time local weather.
