MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), today announced that preliminary trading volume reached 26,404 futures and options contracts, breaking the previous daily Exchange volume record by nearly 12 percent. The previous volume record had been set on April 25,2005.
lectronic volume is preliminarily released at 24,159 contracts traded. This is a nearly 16 percent increase over the previous record set on February 23, 2011.
Open interest is also reporting steady gains with the past two days reporting record- setting highs with yesterday’s open interest ending at the all-time high of 80,607 contracts. Open interest after today’s trading will be released tomorrow morning.
