MEFF Proximity Services In Production

The first application from a Member using proximity services provided by MEFF is now in production.

In October, this Member sent more than 3,500,000 messages to the negotiation systems, placing them third amongst the Members of the market ranked by number of orders. It is particularly relevant that the average response time was below 0.01 seconds. Additionally, other Members have now solicited the use of these services and they are scheduled to start production within the next few weeks.

Proximity services consist of the installation of the equipment for electronic access to MEFF within a location near to the Data Center of MEFF in Barcelona in a hosting regime. The companies offering hosting services allow the Member to install, along with the equipment provided by MEFF, other equipment which runs their market creation or algorithmic trading applications, the response time to which is critical.

The connection between MEFF’s Data Center and the Member’s equipment uses high performance lines. With this proximity service, MEFF remarkably improves the access offered by way of collocation, brought about in the first semester of the year, in which Members were offered the possibility to house their computers in a specialised centre in Barcelona, in location near to MEFF’s host.

MEFF continues work on new access modes which allow even further reduction of lag time.
