  • Measuring Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX 50 Index is up 2.97% for March, closing at 1822.99. Year-to-date, the index is down -12.52%.
  • Measuring Eastern Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index is up 13.54% for March, closing at 124.69. Year-to-date, the index is down -17.69%.
  • The performance of the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged 15 blue-chip index is up16.79% for March, closing at 1349.49. The index is down -17.91% so far this year.
  • The Dow Jones Asian Titans 50 Index rose 13.35% in March to 98.60. So far this year, the index is down -3.88%.
  • The Dow Jones Global Titans 50 Index rose 9.69% in March, closing at 127.56. Year-to-date, the index is down -11.42%.
MARCH 2009 Sector Winners and Losers
  • In the U.S., the Dow Jones U.S. Basic Materials Index was the biggest winner in March, posting a 19.41% gain. The Dow Jones U.S. Utilities Index posted the narrowest gain, up 2.67%.
  • In Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Automobiles & Parts Index posted the biggest gain, climbing 22.84%. The Dow Jones STOXX 600 Personal & Household Goods Index had the sharpest decline, falling -5.12%.
  • In Asia, the Dow Jones Asia/Pacific Basic Materials Index posted the biggest gain, rising 19.59%. The Dow Jones Asia/Pacific Utilities Index posted the biggest loss, down -3.65%.
  • Globally, the Dow Jones World Basic Resources Titans Index had the best performance, climbing 20.69%. The Dow Jones World Utilities Titans Index posted the narrowest gain, up 1.11%.

Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index (TMI) is a European broad benchmark index. Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged 15 Index is a European blue chip index. Both indexes measure the performance of the 12 new member states that joined the European Union in May 2004 and January 2007.

The Dow Jones Asian Titans 50 Index includes 50 of the biggest and best-known Asia/Pacific blue-chip companies from six countries.
