London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) today presented Kirstie Allsopp with a £70,800 cheque to support Miranda Hart in her BT Red Nose Challenge: Miranda's Mad March.
Kirstie opened London Stock Exchange trading at eight o'clock this morning, in front of hundreds of LSEG employees, all wearing red noses, before accepting a cheque worth £70,800 from David Lester, LSEG's Group Director of Corporate Strategy. The amount represents 20 per cent of yesterday's London trading fees, and was raised as part of LSEG's annual Charity Trading Day.
David Lester, Group Director of Corporate Strategy, LSEG, said:
"Over the last 25 years, Red Nose Day has become a great British institution. As a great British institution ourselves, we're thrilled to be kicking off today's celebrations. It's a real honour to welcome Kirstie to open trading this morning, and we are delighted to contribute £70,800 to support Miranda's Mad March. We wish her and everyone else raising money for Comic Relief today the very best of luck."
Kirstie Allsopp said:
"Never in a million years did I think I'd be invited to open London Stock Exchange trading. It's a huge privilege and I've really enjoyed myself, but I also wanted to say thank you for their generous donation to support BT Red Nose Challenge: Miranda's Mad March. I've been roped in today to give her a helping hand and she will be thrilled we can contribute this amount to her total."
