Lords Committee Investigating EU Financial Regulation To Hear Evidence From Lord Myners

Date 22/01/2009

The House of Lords EU Committee will next week hear evidence from Lord Myners, Financial Services Secretary to the Treasury, on EU Financial Regulation.

The evidence session will be Lord Myners' first in front of a Parliamentary Committee since he was brought into the Government last year.

The Committee will quiz Lord Myners on whether the current financial crises uncovers a need for reform of EU financial supervision, what type of regulation the Government supports in relation to credit default swaps, securitisation and credit ratings agencies and whether current EU working practices allow for an efficient and effective response to a crises situation.

The evidence session with Lord Myners will take place at 10:35am on Tuesday 27 January in Committee Room 2A of the House of Lords.

Also giving evidence on the day will be David Green, Advisor on International Affairs at the Financial Reporting Council. His evidence session will start at 11.15am
