London Stock Exchange Welcomes Agricultural Bank Of China

London Stock Exchange today welcomed Mr. Liu Shiyu, the Chairman of Agricultural Bank of China to open trading on its markets.

The ceremony, taking place in the same week as the state visit of Chinese President, Xi Jinping to the UK and London Stock Exchange’s inaugural China Green Bond Conference, was held to celebrate the landmark listing by Agricultural Bank of China of RMB and dollar denominated Green bonds with a total value of $1bn.

Following the Market Open Ceremony, Xavier Rolet, CEO, London Stock Exchange Group and Mr. Liu Shiyu signed a memorandum of understanding which will see the two organisations work together on the development of green finance initiatives between London and China.

The listing is the first international Green Bond issue by a Chinese bank, as well as the first Green RMB bond for ABC and listed on London Stock Exchange.
