Kuwait Stock Exchange Trading Report For May 2004

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 5,282.1 points at the end of May, an increase of 232.1 points from the closing value at the end of April. The weighted index reached 290.8 points at the end of May, an increase of 5.85 points from the closing value at the end of April.

Volume of trading in May was 2,764,532,500 shares, a decrease of 3.40% over the previous month's volume. The value traded in May was KWD 1,064,503,795 a decrease of 15.13% over the previous month's value. There were 83,500 transactions in May, a decrease of 5.01% over the previous month's number of transactions.

Of the 111 listed companies, 110 were traded in May. Of the traded companies, 24 increased in price and 86 decreased in price.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at end May was KWD 17,488,671,000.
