The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 10,001.9 points at the end of June, a decrease of 1,443.2 points from the closing value at the end of 2005. The weighted index reached 507.19 points at the end of June, a decrease of 55.05 points compared to the end 2005 value.
Volume of trading in the first half of 2006 was 19,641,758,000 shares, a decrease of 33% since the end of 2005. The value traded in the first half of 2006 was KWD 9,195,285,590 a decrease of 41% since the end of 2005. There were 800,259 transactions in the first half of 2006, a decrease of 29% since the end of 2005.
Of the 174 traded companies, 90 increased in price and 84 decreased in price.
The market capitalisation of the exchange was KWD 32,999,515,000.
