Kuwait Stock Exchange First Quarter Report 2004

The index of the Kuwait Stock Exchange reached 4,947.6 points at the end of March 2004, an increase of 157.4 points from the closing value at the end of the previous 4th quarter. The weighted index reached 290.1 points at the end of March, a decrease of 1.24 points from the closing value at the end of the previous 4th quarter.

Volume of trading in the first quarter was 10,251,334,500 shares, a decrease of 21.79% over the previous quarter volume. The value traded in the first quarter was KWD 4,738,506,710 an increase of 3.15% over the previous quarter trading value. There were 303,763 transactions in the first quarter, a decrease of 0.03 % over the previous quarter figure.

There were 108 listed companies at end March. The shares of 110 companies were traded in the first quarter. In the first quarter of the traded companies, 80 increased in price and 30 decreased in price.

The market capitalisation of the exchange at end March was KWD 18,814,540.
