Kuala Lumpur Shariah Index, Second Board And MESDAQ Retiring On 1 November 2007; To Be Replaced By FTSE-Bursa Malaysia Indices

The Kuala Lumpur Shariah Index (KLSI), Second Board and MESDAQ indices will be retired by Bursa Malaysia come 1 November 2007. This will be replaced by the FTSE Bursa Malaysia Index series:- the FTSE-Bursa Malaysia EMAS Shariah, the FTSE-Bursa Malaysia Second Board and the FTSE Bursa Malaysia MESDAQ Indices respectively. With the retirement of KLSI, the FTSE-Bursa Malaysia EMAS Shariah Index will be the singular benchmark index for Malaysian Shariah-compliant investments.

For investors who have funds tracking the indices, please note that for operational purposes, the new indices will run parallel with the existing indices until 2 November 2007 (Friday). The existing indices will no longer be calculated by Bursa Malaysia from 3 November 2007 onwards.
