Korea Exchange And Osaka Securities Exchange Sign Memorandum Of Understanding

Osaka Securities Exchange Co., Ltd. (OSE) and Korea Exchange Inc. (KRX) announced today, September 15, that they have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU), in which the two exchanges agreed to build a cooperative relationship towards the development of financial markets, especially in the area of the growth markets, in Korea and Japan, at the JASDAQ-OSE Plaza of the OSE’s Tokyo Branch.

“We believe the signing of the MOU with KRX, which has the KOSDAQ market, a growth market for Korean start-up companies, will be a significant step towards internationalization of the new JASDAQ market to be launched in this October,” said Michio Yoneda, President & CEO of OSE. “Also, both exchanges have strong derivatives markets and can cooperate in various areas. We hope this MOU will lead to further development of the financial markets in Korea and Japan, and create new benefits for investors in Asia and all over the world.”

Bongsoo Kim, Chairman & CEO of KRX said “the new market, which is necessary to support the growth of small- and medium-sized venture companies, has made a significant contribution to the development of national economy and the importance of new market is growing steadily. By signing this MOU, the OSE and KRX have expressed their willingness to actively look for the ways of promoting the development our two new markets by sharing the know-how and experiences in building up a successful new market. It is expected that such willingness would inspire the sustained growth of new markets in our two countries, as well as the markets for smalland medium venture companies in Asian region.”

OSE will continuously work on various measures making the new JASDAQ market a more attractive market with the reliability and convenience.
