In October 2007, total turnover on SWX, virt-x and Scoach Switzerland Ltd. amounted to CHF 209 billion. That represents a 15.3% increase compared to the previous month and a 41.9% higher reading than in October 2006. On balance, the stock indices recorded a monthly gain. The blue chip SMI® index closed out the month at 9,019.6 points, up 0.96 % versus its September 2007 close. Since the end of 2006, it has gained 2.66 %. The broadly based SPI® has risen 6.39 % on a year-to-date basis to stand at 7,372.1 points at the end of October 2007.
