In September 2009, cumulative turnover on SIX Swiss Exchange and Scoach Switzerland amounted to CHF 95.93 billion, 9.4 % more than in August 2009. The total number of transactions eased by a mere 0.1 % to 2,658,798. The trend in ETF trading remained gratifying: turnover increased to CHF 4.5 billion, a 23.8 % gain compared to August 2009. In the segment Equities incl. Funds + ETSFs, turnover also recorded a month-on-month increase by reaching CHF 73.7 billion, 11.6 % above the August 2009 reading. The rebound in share prices continued in September, with the blue chip SMI® index closing out the month at 6,323.2 (+1.7 % versus August), the SLI Swiss Leader Index® PR at 973.2 (+1.7 %) and the broadly based SPI® at 5,461.3 (+2.2 %).
