KCBT Sets New Membership Sales Record At $525,000 - KCBT Membership Sells For More Than $500,000 For The First Time

The Kansas City Board of Trade on Friday set another membership sales record with a sale at $525,000, topping the previous record of $465,000 set on April 3 of this year. Last year at this time, the record was less than half this level, at $240,000.

This record comes at a time of record-high volume for the KCBT. A new total exchange volume record was set for the month of July, with 426,770 contracts topping the previous July monthly volume record of 419,977 set just last year. Hard red winter wheat futures set a new record for the month of July as 407,032 contracts were traded, breaking the previous July record of 377,494 set just last year by 7.8 percent.

The KCBT is a for-profit corporation organized under the laws of Delaware. There are 192 Class "A" (equity) memberships or shares of stock in the exchange and 60 "B" (non-equity) or associate memberships.

The Kansas City Board of Trade, founded in 1856, is the world's largest futures market for hard red winter wheat. This year, the exchange is celebrating its 151-year anniversary.
