Kansas City Board of Trade trading volume for the month of January amounted to 198,126 contracts, an increase of 6.7 percent compared to December 2008. Wheat futures trading volume in January tallied 192,152 contracts, an increase of 10 percent from last month.
Wheat options open interest posted an increase for the same time period, with 20,013 contracts outstanding at the end of January, compared to 17,587 outstanding at the end of December 2008.
