As of June 23 the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 6.30% in June, closing at 11842.36. Stock market indexes in Europe, Asia and globally were down in June, according to preliminary monthly figures from global index providers, Dow Jones Indexes and STOXX Ltd.

  • The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 6.30% in June, closing at 11842.36. Year-to-date, the index is 10.72%.
  • Measuring Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX 50 Index is down 7.90% for June, closing at 2931.00. Year-to-date, the index is down 20.44%.
  • Measuring Eastern Europe, the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged Total Market Index is down 7.57% for June, closing at 290.66. Year-to-date, the index is down 20.48%.
  • The performance of the Dow Jones STOXX EU Enlarged 15 blue-chip index is down 6.98% for June, closing at 3061.61. The index is down 17.35% so far this year.
  • The Dow Jones Asian Titans 50 Index fell 6.19% in June to 162.41. So far this year, the index is down 7.06%
  • The Dow Jones Global Titans 50 Index fell 6.99% in June, closing at 205.00. Year-to-date, the index is down 14.62%.

JUNE 2008 Sector Winners and Losers

  • In the U.S., the Dow Jones U.S. Oil & Gas Index was the biggest winner in June, posting a 3.43% gain. The Dow Jones U.S. Financials Index posted the biggest loss, dropping 12.73%. In Asia, the Dow Jones Asia-Pacific Basic Materials Index posted the narrowest loss, down 4.86%. The Dow Jones Asia-Pacific Financials Index posted the biggest loss, dropping 9.82%.
  • Globally, the Dow Jones World Chemicals Titans Index posted the narrowest loss, down 1.11%. The Dow Jones World Banks Titans Index posted the biggest drop, falling 13.35%.
