JonesTrading Institutional Services LLC, a leading agency brokerage, which provides institutions with block trading in securities, announced today that it has recruited industry veteran Bernie Blaney as part of the continued growth of its franchise in relationship based trading. He is based in the Boston office of JonesTrading where he will focus on client acquisition and building market share both in number of clients and in increasing order flow.
Blaney has over 20 years’ experience in the brokerage industry, including 11 years at Lehman where he served most recently as Managing Director and Head of Sales Trading in Boston. Prior to Lehman, he held senior positions at First Boston. He will report to George Harrington, Head of JonesTrading’s Boston office.
Over the last year JonesTrading has executed a strategy to migrate its relationship based model into new instruments and regions. Blaney’s joining JonesTrading is part of an ongoing effort to attract top talent to the firm as it expands its depth in equity trading and its breadth of trading in fixed income, derivatives, and in secondary financing through its Capital Markets Group.
Said Steve Tullar, National Sales Manager: “JonesTrading remains committed to securing large block agency liquidity for institutions. Constructing these blocks requires the expertise and experience that only a relationship based network, where traders know a client’s style, strategy and intent, can provide. Our continued success and ongoing expansion is a reflection of the confidence our clients place in the ability of our 100 sales traders in 13 offices nationwide to execute block trades on their behalf each trading day. Attracting Bernie to JonesTrading is part of our commitment to both our clients and our business model.”
