On February 21, 2008, the Financial Services Agency and the Securities and Exchange Surveillance Commission published “Our Answers to Your Questions about the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act”, which sets out the authorities’ views on frequently asked questions and common misunderstandings regarding the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act. This document was made available in order to promote the public understanding of the intent and purpose of the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, and to facilitate the implementation of the Act, which aims to strike a balance between investor protection and user convenience.
