Investor Activity On Warsaw Stock Exchange Markets: September 2015

  • The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book[1] in equities on the Main Market was PLN 17.0 billion in September 2015, a decrease of 13.6% year on year

The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book1 in equities on the Main Market was PLN 17.0 billion in September 2015, a decrease of 13.6% year on year. The average daily value of trade in equities in September 2015 was PLN 771.3 million (a decrease of 13.6% year on year) while the average daily number of transactions increased by 14.7% year on year to 69.8 thousand. The incremental value of trade in equities on the Main Market was PLN 154.2 billion in January-September 2015, representing a decrease of 2.3% year on year.

The total value of trading on NewConnect stood at PLN 195.1 million in September 2015, an increase of 154.2% year on year. The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book in equities on NewConnect increased by 134.6% year on year to PLN 173.1 million in September 2015.

The volume of trading in index futures was 525.9 thousand contracts in September 2015 compared to 599.0 thousand contracts in September 2014, representing a decrease of 12.2% year on year. The volume of trading in other futures (single-stock, currency, interest rate futures) was 272.7 thousand contracts in September 2015, an increase of 32.6% year on year. The volume of trade in options decreased by 44.3% year on year to 38.3 thousand.

The value of bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 70.6 billion at the end of September 2015, an increase of 4.7% year on year. The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book on Catalyst was PLN 218.6 million in September 2015, representing an increase of 25.9% year on year.

The total value of transactions on TBSP decreased by 42.0% year on year to PLN 50.6 billion in September 2015.

The volume of forward transactions in electricity was 12.0 TWh in September 2015, representing a decrease of 2.4% year on year. The volume of spot transactions decreased by 5.1% year on year to 1.7 TWh in September 2015. The total volume of trade in electricity was 127.8 TWh in January-September 2015, representing a modest decrease of 0.3% year on year.

The volume of trading in property rights to certificates of origin increased by 65.1% year on year to 4.6 TWh in September 2015.

The total volume of spot and forward trading in gas stood at 86.5 TWh in January-September 2015, an increase of 34.9% year on year.

The capitalisation of 424 domestic companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 556.1 billion (EUR 131.2 billion) at the end of September 2015.

The total capitalisation of 476 domestic and foreign companies listed on the GPW Main Market was PLN 1,124.5 billion (EUR 265.3 billion) at the end of September 2015.

Two companies were newly listed on the Main Market in September 2015: Prairie Mining Limited (PML) without an offering and Wind Mobile SA with an offering of PLN 10,7 million.

The company BVT SA with an offering of PLN 800 thousand was newly listed on NewConnect in September 2015.

A new bond issue of Orbis SA worth PLN 300 million was newly listed on Catalyst in September 2015. 

GPW held 22 trading sessions in September 2015, the same as in September 2014.
