Investor Activity On GPW Markets: November 2015 - Trading On GPW Group Markets

  • The value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book[1] on the Main Market increased by 8.9% year on year to PLN 14.8 billion in November 2015
  • The volume of trade in index futures was 304.1 thousand contracts, an increase of 14.9% year on year
  • The total value of trading in equities on the Electronic Order Book on NewConnect was more than PLN 1.6 billion in January-November 2015 compared to PLN 1.0 billion in January-November 2014

The total value of trade in equities on the Main Market increased by 10.2% to PLN 15.3 billion in November 2015 and trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book reached PLN 14.8 billion, an increase of 8.9% year on year. The average daily value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book increased by 3.4% year on year to PLN 739.1 million in November 2015 and the average daily number of transactions continued to increase for several months (increase of 28.3% year on year). The incremental value of trade in equities on the Electronic Order Book on the Main Market was PLN 187.0 billion in January-November 2015, representing a modest decrease of 1.5% year on year.

The total value of trading on NewConnect was PLN 197.9 million in November 2015, an increase of 10.8% year on year. The incremental value of trading in equities on the Electronic Order Book on NewConnect was PLN 1.6 billion in January-November 2015 compared to PLN 1.0 billion in January-November 2014 (an increase of 61.4% year on year).

The volume of trading in index futures was 304.1 thousand contracts in November 2015 compared to 264.6 thousand contracts in November 2014, representing an increase of 14.9% year on year. The volume of trading in single-stock futures increased sharply: it was 95.9 thousand contracts in November 2015 compared to 54.0 thousand contracts in November 2014 (an increase of 77.6%% yoy). The volume of trading in options increased by 64.5% year on year to 44.2 thousand contracts in November 2015.

The value of bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 67.8 billion at the end of November 2015, representing an increase of 11.1% yoy. The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book on Catalyst was PLN 158.0 million in November 2015, an increase of 20.3% year on year.

The total value of trade on TBSP increased by 17.1% year on year to PLN 45.6 billion in November 2015.

The total volume of spot transactions in electricity increased by 12.6% yoy to 24.9 TWh in November 2015. The total volume of (spot and forward) transactions in electricity was 169.8 TWh in January-November 2015, representing a modest decrease of 0.6% year on year.

Trade in electricity futures started in the PolPX Financial Instruments Market in November 2015. The total volume of trade in electricity futures was 1,488 MWh in November 2015. According to the plan, liquidity in the market will be building up in the last months of 2015 and in the year 2016.

The volume of trading in property rights to certificates of origin increased by 50.2% year on year to 3.7 TWh in November 2015.

The total volume of spot and forward transactions in natural gas was 5.5 TWh in November 2015 while the incremental volume in January-November 2015 was 98.6 TWh, a decrease of 4.4% yoy.

The capitalisation of 426 domestic companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 529.1 billion (EUR 124.1 billion) at the end of November 2015. The total capitalisation of 479 domestic and foreign companies listed on the GPW Main Market was PLN 1,143.1 billion (EUR 268.1 billion) at the end of November 2015.

The companies WITTCHEN (IPO value of PLN 55.2 million) and CITY SERVICE (no offering) were newly listed on the Main Market in November 2015.
