Investor Activity On GPW Markets: May 2015

  • The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book[1] in equities on the Main Market was PLN 17.2 billion in May 2015, an increase of 5.5% year on year.
  • The total value of trading on NewConnect was PLN 106.1 million in May 2015, an increase of 34,0% year on year.
  • The value of bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 67.1 billion at the end of May 2015, an increase of 3.7% year on year.
  • The total volume of trading in electricity was 13.9 TWh in May 2015, an increase of 19.6% year on year.
  • The volume of trading in property rights to certificates of origin more than quadrupled year on year to 7.3 TWh in May 2015.
  • The total volume of spot and forward trading in gas was 5.6 TWh in May 2015.

The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book in equities on the Main Market was PLN 17.2 billion in May 2015, an increase of 5.5% year on year. The average daily value of trade on the Electronic Order Book in May 2015 increased by 10.7% year on year to PLN 860.3 million per session while the average daily number of transactions increased by 22.1% to 60.5 thousand.

The total value of trading on NewConnect stood at PLN 106.1 million in May 2015, an increase of 34.0% year on year. The value of trade on the Electronic Order Book in equities on NewConnect increased by 37.6% year on year to PLN 101.9 million in May 2015.

The volume of trading in index futures was 257.5 thousand contracts in May 2015. 20 June 2014 was the last trading day of WIG20 futures contracts with a multiplier of PLN 10. Only WIG20 futures contracts with a multiplier of PLN 20 are in trading as of 23 June 2014. For data comparability, the historical volume of trading in WIG20 futures with a multiplier of PLN 10 (before 23 June 2014) was divided by 2 in the index contract line of the table attached to the press release. After the correction, the volume of trading in index futures increased by 5.6% year on year in May 2015.

The volume of trading in other futures (single-stock, currency, interest rate futures) was 320.7 thousand contracts in May 2015, an increase of 82.0% year on year.

The value of bond issues listed on Catalyst was PLN 67.1 billion at the end of May 2015, an increase of 3.7% year on year.

The total value of transactions on TBSP decreased by 1.3% year on year to PLN 63.5 billion in May 2015.

The volume of forward transactions in electricity was 11.9 TWh in May 2015, an increase of 22.7% year on year. The volume of spot transactions increased by 4.0% year on year to 2.0 TWh in May 2015. The total volume of trade in electricity increased by 13.2% year on year to 77.3 TWh in January-May 2015.

The volume of trading in property rights to certificates of origin more than quadrupled year on year to 7.3 TWh in May 2015.

The total volume of spot and forward transactions in gas was 5.6 TWh in May 2015, compared to 1.3 TWh in May 2014.

The capitalisation of 420 domestic companies listed on the Main Market was PLN 636.0 billion (EUR 154.0 billion) at the end of May 2015. The market capitalisation was PLN 611.0 billion (PLN 147.5 billion) at the end of May 2014.

The total capitalisation of 472 domestic and foreign companies listed on the GPW Main Market was PLN 1,335.0 billion (EUR 323.1 billion) at the end of May 2015. The total capitalisation was PLN 914.5 billion (EUR 220.8 billion) at the end of May 2014.

The companies Wirtualna Polska and Uniwheels were newly listed on the GPW Main Market in May 2015. The total value of the new listings was PLN 691.3 million in May 2015.

The companies Summa Linguae, Kancelaria Prawna – Inkaso WEC, Adiuvo Investment and LK Designer Shops were newly listed on NewConnect in May 2015. The total value of the offerings was PLN 40.5 million in May 2015.

Bonds of the companies WB Electronics, Enea and Dayli Polska were newly listed on Catalyst in May 2015. The value of the issues was PLN 1.1 billion.

GPW held 20 trading sessions in May 2015, one less than in May 2014.
