IMF Study Recognizes BM&FBOVESPA As A Groundbreaker Regarding Its Novo Mercado

The International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) report into corporate governance in emerging markets, published on Wednesday (September 28), praises BM&FBOVESPA as a groundbreaker in regard to its Novo Mercado.

Selim Elekdag, IMF economist and the report’s author, highlights how the Novo Mercado has introduced higher standards for corporate governance alongside minority shareholder protection. The segment has resulted in major changes in the Brazilian equity market, according to Elekdag.
