ICE Futures U.S. Sets Exchange-Wide And Mini Russell 2000 Index Volume Records

Exchange-wide volume at ICE Futures U.S.(TM), a leading regulated U.S. futures exchange for global agricultural, equity index and currency markets, exceeded 800,000 contracts for the first time in a single day yesterday. Also on Tuesday, September 16, electronic trading at the exchange set a new record for the third time in the past week, while trading volume in ICE's mini Russell 2000(R) Index futures contract set a new high.

At ICE Futures Europe(TM) yesterday, exchange-wide open interest set a new record of 2,020,659 contracts, surpassing the 2 million milestone for the first time in the exchange's history.

Total exchange-wide volume at ICE Futures U.S. yesterday reached a record 841,938 contracts, a 9% increase over the previous record established on January 18, 2008. Electronic volume of 746,604 Tuesday broke the record established on Monday by 21% and marked the first time electronic volume surpassed the 700,000 level.

Daily volume in the mini Russell 2000 futures contract Tuesday totaled 500,394 contracts, 38% above Monday's record.

Open interest in the mini and full-size Russell 2000 futures has increased from 1,377 contracts at January 1, 2008, to a record 828,426 contracts as of September 16, based on mini equivalents. This Friday, September 19, Russell Index futures and options on futures contracts will be traded exclusively on ICE.
