Hong Kong Securities And Futures Commission Hosts Meeting Of IOSCO’s Committee On Issuer Accounting, Audit And Disclosure

Date 08/10/2026

The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) hosted the plenary meeting of the International Organization of Securities Commissions' (IOSCO) Committee on Issuer Accounting, Audit and Disclosure in Hong Kong from 5 to 8 October 2026 (Note 1).

The four-day meetings, held under the auspices of the Committee and included its subcommittee meetings, brought together more than 35 senior executives/representatives from 21 securities regulators worldwide. They exchanged views on a range of regulatory and market issues, including modernising disclosure requirements to reduce reporting burdens for listed companies, and new developments in financial reporting and auditing. They also discussed emerging issues affecting public equity markets, including the use of technology and Artificial Intelligence, and private equity investment in audit firms.

Ms Christina Choi, the SFC's Executive Director of Corporate Finance, said the meetings attested to Hong Kong's pre-eminence as an international financial centre and the city’s commitment to international regulatory cooperation.

“High-quality corporate disclosure, financial reporting and assurance are essential to fostering investor confidence and effective capital formation,” Ms Choi said. “As global capital markets continue to evolve and become increasingly interconnected, cross-border regulatory cooperation is becoming ever more important in promoting market transparency, fairness and efficiency, as well as addressing common regulatory challenges."
