The Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) hosted the Asset Manager Forum (Forum) at its office today to highlight the latest regulatory and market developments in the asset management sector where Hong Kong continues to stand out as a global powerhouse.
The Forum brought together more than 240 industry stakeholders from the asset management industry. Notably, it featured briefings on new regulatory developments and other topical issues pertaining to listed and unlisted public funds in Hong Kong as well as connectivity between Hong Kong and other markets.
To foster a culture of compliance, the SFC also shared with participants of the Forum its recent observations on regulatory compliance of SFC-authorised funds and the SFC’s expectations on asset managers in meeting the relevant regulatory requirements.
As part of the SFC’s ongoing stakeholder engagement, the Forum concluded with a networking session where participants and the SFC’s senior executives continued dialogues and exchanged views.
Ms Elisa Ng, the SFC’s Executive Director of Investment Products, said: “Direct engagement with the industry is an integral part of our regulatory approach. For our part, it enhances the transparency of our policymaking process and improves the efficiency of our day-to-day regulatory work. This, in turn, supports healthy market growth, strengthens investor protection, and promotes a clear understanding of compliance requirements and regulatory expectations. We will continue to be pro-active in reaching out to our industry stakeholders as the market landscape evolves with new financial innovations and changing market dynamics.”
