Securities market
- The Hang Seng Index (HSI) closed at a record high of 25554.64 today, up 977.79 points or 3.98 per cent, the largest point and percentage rise since 20 August 2007 when the index was up 1208.50 points, or 5.93 per cent.
- The Hang Seng China Enterprises Index (H-shares Index) closed at a record high of 15255.49 today, up 521.87 points, or 3.54 per cent.
- Today's securities market turnover value was $139,393 million, the largest ever.
- Today's turnover value for H-share and red-chip companies was $55,536 million and $19,252 million respectively.
- Today's derivative warrants turnover was $21,332 million (Record high was $24,858 million on 12 September 2007).
- A total of 842,628 trades were concluded today (Record high was 918,699 on 1 August 2007).
- Today's closing market capitalisation was a new high of $18,970,742,125,031. The previous trading day's (18 September 2007) closing market capitalisation was $18,315,964,471,172.
