Hellenic Exchanges publishes its Derivatives Monthly Statistics Bulletin for August 2013.
Summary of basic statistical information of Derivatives Market for August 2013:
The number of Active investors’ Accounts reached 33,331 (previous month: 33,323)
The number of Trading Active investors’ Accounts reached 2,042 (previous month: 2,142)
Total number of open interest was 207,983 increased by 0.99% compared to the previous month (205,929 open interests) as a result of a gradual introduction of stock futures (since June 25 2013).
Participation of foreign investors in total open interest of Derivatives Market reached 12.33% in Positions.
Participation of foreign investors in Futures’ open interest reached 12.27% in Positions.
Participation of foreign investors in Index Futures’ open interest reached 44.59% in Positions.
Participation of foreign investors in Options’ open interest reached 13.34% in Positions.
Total traded volume reached 452,993 contracts decreased by 20.85% compared to the previous month (572,315 items).
Investors’ Participation in Derivatives Market
The participation of Greek investors in total open interest of Derivatives Market was 87.41% in Positions at the end of August 2013 while the previous month reached 89.13%. The participation of international investors in total open interest of Derivatives Market was 12.33% in Positions at the end of August 2013 while the previous month reached 10.61%.
Investors’ Participation in Futures
The participation of Greek investors in Futures’ open interest was 87.73% in Positions at the end of August 2013 while the previous month reached 89.62%. The participation of international investors in Futures’ open interest of was 12.27% in Positions at the end of August 2013 while the previous month reached 10.38%.
In Index Futures the number of Clearing Accounts reached 705 accounts, decreased by 2.75% compared to the previous month (725 clearing accounts). Also, the participation of international investors in open interest reached at 44.59%, increased by 20.54% compared to the previous month which was 36.99%.
