FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index:

GPW Modifies Exchange Indices

Date 16/08/2016

  • The Warsaw Stock Exchange will publish its sector sub-indices on a continuous basis every 60 seconds as of 1 October 2016.
  • The classification of companies in the dividend index will be modified as of 16 December 2016.

Following analyses and consultations, GPW introduces new publication terms of its sector sub-indices and modifies the classification terms of companies in the WIGdiv index.

The Exchange calculates 11 sector sub-indices which are published three times per day: at 11:15 (after the first fixing), at 15:15 (after the second fixing), and after the close of the trading session. Following the modification, the sector sub-indices will be published on a continuous basis in one-minute intervals from the open until close of the trading session.

WIGdiv covers 30 companies in the WIG20, mWIG40 and sWIG80 indices. These shares had the highest dividend yield during the last year and have paid a dividend at least three times during the last five years. Following the modification, the index will cover all companies in the WIG20, mWIG40, and sWIG80 indices which have paid a dividend regularly during the last five years.

“The modification of the sector sub-indices introduced by GPW will ensure the market conditions in each sector can be tracked on an on-going basis. The new classification of companies in WIGdiv will identify issuers who pursue a stable dividend policy and regularly share their earnings with the shareholders. The proposed changes address the expectations of market participants and follow trends observed on other exchanges,” said Professor MaƂgorzata Zaleska, President of the Management Board of GPW.

The sector sub-indices will be published on a continuous basis as of 1 October 2016.

The new classification terms of companies in WIGdiv will apply as of the annual revision of the index after the trading session on 16 December 2016.
