Goldman Sachs Japan Co., Ltd. Designated As A “TSE Equity Options Supporter”

Tokyo Stock Exchange, Inc. (TSE) will designate Goldman Sachs Japan Co., Ltd. (“Goldman Sachs”) as a ”TSE Equity Options Supporter” on October 2, 2007.

Established in 1869, Goldman Sachs is a global investment bank with a long and distinguished history. Utilizing the latest financial technology, Goldman is active in markets around the world and has contributed significantly to the rapid advancement of derivatives markets in Japan. Goldman aims to offer sounder, more effective alternative trading methods to a new investor base by energizing and increasing participation in the highly transparent listed derivatives market. Goldman Sachs plans to make markets for a variety of listed equity options, and its active participation is expected to play a significant role in improving the liquidity of the TSE equity options market.

In the TSE Equity Option Supporter system, which began in April 2006, the TSE designates trading participants to actively promote the expansion of the TSE equity options market based on applications received by trading participants.

  • Goldman Sachs will submit ask/bid quotes, based on the underlying stocks price at the end of morning session. The TSE will make this information available through “Target” and so on.
