Global Market Players Converge In Malaysia For The 24th Annual Bursa Malaysia Palm Oil Conference

Bursa Malaysia will host its 24^th Annual Palm and Lauric Oils Conference & Exhibition 2013 (POC2013) this March. As the preeminent event for the industry, POC2013 brings together the largest gathering of global players from the palm and edible oils industry to network, exchange ideas and hear experts discuss their price outlook for the year.

Themed “Price Volatility: Ride It, Manage It”, POC2013 will be held from 4 to 6 March 2013 at Shangri-la Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. Hosted by Bursa Malaysia and supported by Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME).

POC2013 will again feature some of the most respected speakers in the industry such as Dorab Mistry, Director of Godrej International Limited, Dr. James Fry, Chairman of LMC International Ltd; Mr Xianfei Xu, Chief Economist of Chinatex Grains & Oils Imp. & Exp. Co. Ltd, Derom Bangun, Chairman of Indonesian Palm Oil Board and Harald Sauthoff, Vice President, Global Procurement Natural Oils and Oleochemicals, BASF Personal Care & Nutrition GmBH.

Bursa Malaysia Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Bursa Malaysia Derivatives, Dato’ Tajuddin Atan said, “With the world’s most liquid palm oil futures contract traded on Bursa Malaysia, it is natural that we host POC2013. This year we will have an added focus on helping participants understand how they can take advantage of the Crude Palm Oil Futures (FCPO) contract to manage the risk of their portfolio in a volatile market like we are in today.”

Tan Sri Bernard Dompok, Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities, will grace the official opening ceremony of POC2013 and present his keynote address on 5 March 2013.

At the event, Bursa Malaysia Derivatives Berhad will pay tribute to top volume brokers. The Top Overall Futures Broker and Top Equity Futures Broker awards will go to Kenanga Deutsche Futures Sdn. Bhd. Top Commodity Futures Broker award will be presented to TA Futures Sdn. Bhd while Top Financial Futures Broker award to RHB Investment Bank Bhd.

The conference is designed for a diverse group of market participants across the entire value chain from corporates, fund managers and traders, financial institutions, derivative participants and shipping and infrastructure providers.
