FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index:

FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index Up By 6.4% In November, Up 30% Over 12 Months, Within Striking Distance Of December 2007 All Time High

Date 08/12/2017

The share values of listed exchanges grew by 6.4 per cent during November 2017, amid further signs that the sector is returning to buoyancy and outperforming the rest of the market in terms of recovery.

17 of the 28 exchanges listed on the Mondo Visione Exchanges Index experienced growth in the past month, with Kenya's Nairobi Securities Exchange leading the charge having grown 10 per cent in November and 54.7 per cent over the past year.

The Index, which aims to reflect market sentiment and is a key indicator of exchanges performance closed at 47,804.57 on 30 November 2017 within striking distance of the closing all-time high of 48,486.38 achieved on December 6, 2007.

Herbie Skeete, Managing Director, Mondo Visione and also Co-founder of the Index said:

"The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index is within striking distance of its all-time high, achieved in December 2007. With the London Stock Exchange engaged in a tussle with activist shareholder The Children's Investment Fund Management Ltd., the time may be ideal for a pre-or post Xmas opportunistic bid. It could be December 2004 all over again."

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index best performer by capital returns in US dollars was Kenya's Nairobi Securities Exchange with a 10 per cent increase in share price from 31 October 2017 to 30 November 2017. The next best performer was Deutsche Boerse with a 9.9 per cent increase over the same period.

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index worst performer by capital returns in US dollars was the Multi Commodity Exchange of India with an 8.7 per cent decrease in share price from 31 October 2017 to 30 November 2017. This was followed by India’s BSE with a 5.9 per cent decline over the same period.

The FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index is compiled by FTSE Group from data based on the share price performance of listed exchanges and trading platforms.
