FTSE Mondo Visione Exchanges Index:

Fresnillo, Lonmin, Petrofac, Intertek Group And Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust To join FTSE 100

FTSE Group (“FTSE”) confirms today that Tate & Lyle, London Stock Exchange Group, First Group, Wolseley and 3i Group will leave the FTSE 100 and be replaced by silver miner Fresnillo, Platinum group metals producer Lonmin and oil & gas solutions provider Petrofac, solutions provider Intertek Group and asset management company Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust. The changes will mean that oil & gas will remain the dominant super sector, already accounting for 24.51% of the index whilst Banks, Financial Services and Insurance sectors continue to drop in their share of the index*.

Between the mid cap FTSE 250 index and the FTSE SmallCap, the following changes will occur:

Constituents leaving the FTSE SmallCap and entering the FTSE 250 Index

Constituents leaving the FTSE 250 and entering the FTSE Smallcap

Aricom, Pace, Premier Foods, Alternative Investment Strategies, SDL, Evolution Group, Stobart Group and Hansard Global, SThree, Computacenter, Taylor Wimpey, Edinburgh UK Tracker Trust, Polar Capital Technology Trust, Vectura Group, BlueBay Asset Management.

Spice, Wincanton, SIG, Hampson Industries, Yell Group, Shanks Group, Elementis, ITE Group, MW Tops (Eur and GBP lines), CLS Holdings, Gem Diamonds, Punch Taverns, Brixton, Candover Investments and Cattles. 



The changes to the indices will take place following FTSE’s UK Index Series quarterly review, which is carried out by the independent FTSE Europe, Middle East and Africa regional committee. The regular index reviews ensure the indices remain an accurate reflection of the market they represent which is essential, as they form the basis of many pension fund’s and investment portfolios.

All changes from this review take effect from the start of trading on Monday 23rd March 2009.

*Oil and gas super sector weighting as at 09/03/2009. Super sectors identified are those defined by ICB classification and reference to super sectors in decline, is in comparison to 10/03/2008.
