For the period from April 1 – April 30, 2009 the total trading volume on FORTS (Futures & Options on RTS) equaled 944.6 billion roubles or 37.1 million contracts, including 198.4 billion roubles during the evening trading session. The total open interest as of the last day of the month, April 30, 2009 reached 78.6 billion roubles or 5.3 million contracts.
In April 2009 new commodity futures contracts on platinum and palladium were launched. The total trading volume for these contracts equaled 33.3 million roubles.
