- March saw close to 120 million tonnes EUAs traded on ECX, up 61% (excluding CER volume) on March 2007 despite there being 4 fewer trading days in March 2008. This represents an average daily futures and options volume of 6.3 million tonnes.
- ECX reported a new record for screen-based volume on 25th March, with 5.4 million tonnes transacted on the webice screen in EUAs and CERs. The total for the day, including options and brokered bilateral trades, reached 9 million tonnes.
- Following the successful launch of CER futures on 14th March, over 8.5 million tonnes of CERs have changed hands on ECX / ICE Futures in the first 10 days of trading – a daily average of 858,000 tonnes.
- The ECX EUA March futures contact month expired on 31st March 2008 with 1,225 lots taken to delivery. The March 2008 settlement price was €0.02. This marks the end of EU ETS Phase I contracts traded on ECX.
