Euronext Amsterdam: Another busy month

Just like the preceding months, November proved to be yet another very busy month on Euronext Amsterdam’s markets. The month of November saw 51% more shares traded on the stock market than in November 1999. This means a year-to-date increase in share turnover of no less than 70%. The running total for 2000 now stands at ? 1,865 billion in turnover in shares and bonds at Euronext’s Amsterdam stock market, a rise of 35%. More than ? 18 billion in shares, bond and warrants were admitted to listing via the primary market during November; 52% more than in the same month last year.

Share options are performing particularly well on the derivatives market, with 26% more contracts traded already this year. In total, over 54 million derivatives contracts had been traded by the end of November.

Turnover in potato future contracts more than tripled, making them by far the most popular product on the commodities market.
