From August 7 to 11, 2023, in spirit of the Memorandum of Cooperation on Popularizing Knowledge on Securities and Futures between CSRC and Ministry of Education, the 1st SZSE “Qinyuan Spark” Capital Market Workshop for Teachers from Higher Learning Institutes was successfully held. The workshop, co-organized by SZSE and China Capital Market Institute, was attended by 32 young and mid-aged teachers from 18 institutes of higher learning in China.
As a support to include investor education into national education system, SZSE prepared a three-year action plan and has entered into a memorandum with 14 famous institutes to vigorously popularize securities-related knowledge in school education, enhancing national financial literacy from the source. The workshop is designed to help teachers understand the significance of such inclusion, support the building of an investor education network covering nationwide backbone faculty of higher institutes, and increase the support and engagement of the institutes in the inclusion. SZSE will reinforce the collaboration with relevant institutes in investor education for greater contributions in this regard.
The workshop features specialized and occupation-oriented courses on securities for the teachers, including 12 lectures and 2 field sessions. Under the support of CSRC and with professionals from market entities, the workshop focuses on the reform and details of the across-the-board registration-based IPO system, the quality improvement of listed companies, the investment side development, and the innovation in investment protection systems, helping the attendees accurately master the significance and system rules on the comprehensive registration-based IPO system to better understand the direction and key measures of the capital market reform. In addition, there were also practical courses to broaden the trainees’ horizons, such as classes on fixed income and REITs product development, interpretation of the delisting rules for listed companies, analysis on corporate governance keys and difficulties, changes in the independent director system, and risk prevention for independent directors. The workshop was well received among the attendees. They expressed that theoretical value has to be tested through practice and that the workshop highly complements their knowledge repository and brings great benefits to their researches and teaching in the future.
“The superior man on grounds of culture meets with his friends, and by their friendship helps his virtue”. Institutes of higher learning as think tank are important channels for reaching consensus on capital market development, which is why we held the training. Amid the workshop, experts from China Institute of Finance and Capital Markets, China Capital Market Institute, and SZSE had profound exchanges with participants on the hot issues concerning capital market research. Through the communication, participants had further cognition on the connotation, path of realization, and key tasks in constructing a modern capital market with Chinese characteristics, and both the lecturers and the trainees gained benefits in research findings and knowledge. On top of that, the workshop is conducive to exploring the establishment of a joint research mechanism, serving as a catalyst in forming favorable conditions for the consolidation of industrial, academic and research institutes in building a modern capital market with Chinese characteristics.
SZSE will continue to step up the integration of investor education into the three-year action plan for the national education system under the guidance of CSRC, while improving the courses and programs of the workshop. With unremitting and joint efforts, we believe that the investor education will be successfully a part of national education for the better growth of capital market.
