ELECTRA Deutschland Signs Up To Trade ECX Products - ELECTRA Deutschland Becomes The 83rd Member Of ICE Futures Europe To Be Given Access To Trade ECX CFI Contracts

Date 29/11/2007

ELECTRA Deutschland, a major player in the German power market, became the latest Member of ICE Futures Europe to be given access to trade in ECX CFI contracts on 26 November 2007.

ELECTRA Deutschland, founded in 2001, is a subsidiary of the Polish PGE Group. The company specializes in German and cross-border power trading. ELECTRA Deutschland is the largest exporter of Polish power into the German national grid, with Germany being the most important market for the PGE Group.

“We’re very pleased to be working with the ECX. We believe that ECX’s liquid market complements our strategy of increasing our presence in the emissions market,” said Kai Ristau, Head of Emissions Trading, JI & CDM at ELECTRA Deutschland.

“By gaining a key German market participant, we consolidate our position as the main platform for trading carbon across the pan-European market,” said Patrick Birley, CEO of the European Climate Exchange.
