The Egyptian Exchange (EGX), in collaboration with REFINITIV (An LSEG Business), organized three workshops on Environmental, social and governance (ESG) disclosures during June 2023.
Rami El-Dokany, EGX Executive Chairman, stated that these workshops, entitled “ESG Data Reporting: Benefits & Challenges”, came in line with EGX’s role in increasing market awareness and improving market participants’ capabilities in ESG & sustainability reporting. He added: “The series is an important step in EGX’s capacity building endeavors targeting listed companies. Several topics were covered including ESG investing, ESG reporting, ESG scoring & best practices.”
El-Dokany said that this series aimed at providing an overview of the significance of ESG activities, ESG data collecting and reporting for all market participants. These workshops targeted explaining the influence of ESG factors on businesses portfolios, strategies & growth pathways as well. To maximize the value of the workshops; the invited companies were categorized into sectorial sub groups according to their operations, activities and business needs.
During the workshops, REFINITIV provided a demonstration on its contribution tool that was developed to enable companies to gather, analyze, present and compare sustainability data. REFINITIV will provide this free tool to EGX listed companies.
