The Egyptian Exchange (EGX) will be hosting the 21st Annual Conference of the African Securities Exchanges Association (ASEA) from 19-21 November 2017 under the patronage and presence of H.E. Eng. Sherif Ismail. Participating in the event are Egyptian and African Ministers, delegations from international finance institutions as well as global and regional investment funds.
Mr. Mohamed Farid, EGX Chairman, stated that hosting ASEA annual event in Cairo is within EGXs efforts to activate the cooperation with the African financial centers. This conference is considered one of the most important financial conferences of the continent as the African stock exchanges and a number of influential figures in the formulation of financing and investment policies in international institutions participate in it.
Mr. Farid said that this conference contributes in supporting the Egyptian capital market strategy, namely; achieving the economic mobility required to attract foreign investments, and highlighting the role of African capital markets as a promising investment destination for international investment.
Farid also added that the two-day conference will discuss a number of important issues related to the capital market industry, such as ways to improve liquidity in the African markets, review the latest developments in financial technology in the capital markets. The sessions will also discuss mechanisms to strengthen governance practices and the role of financial markets in sustainability.
