The Egyptian Exchange (EGX), in collaboration with London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG), hosted a joint roundtable today, Monday September 21, 2026 at EGX historic headquarters downtown, Cairo.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Omar Radwan, EGX Executive Chairman; Mr. Mohamed Sabry, EGX Vice Chairman; Ms. Rehab Sallam, EGX Head of International Relations; Mr. Abi Ajaya, Head of Primary markets Middle East and Africa London Stock Exchange; Mr. Simon Olsen, Partner Deloitte Equity Capital markets; Mr. Inigo Esteve, Partner White & Case’s Capital Markets Group in London; Mr. Mohamed Akl, LSEG Business Director MEA; Ms. Heba Abouelnil, Senior Account Director, Major Accounts, EMNA LSEG in Cairo; Ms. Ariel White — Tsimikalis, Partner Equity Capital Markets Goodwin; Mr. Ayman Mahmoud, Vice Chairman Deutsche bank; along with distinguished group of economic leaders, legal experts, and representatives from international companies and financial institutions.
The event started with a welcoming speech by Mr. Omar Radwan, EGX Executive Chairman, in which he said: “Hosting this meeting, in cooperation with London Stock Exchange Group, reflects the ongoing commitment of EGX to develop the Egyptian capital market, opening new promising financing opportunities for local companies”.
Mr. Omar Radwan added: “We believe that enhancing integration and building bridges of cooperation between EGX and the major global financial markets, particularly LSEG, is a key step enabling national companies to access international capital and liquidity needed for expansion and growth, which in turn supports efforts of comprehensive economic growth and development of investment environment in Egypt”.
The working sessions focused on ways of developing the capital market and facilitating access of Egyptian companies to regional and global capital markets.
The event included five main sessions discussing several topics:
- The first session: chaired by Mr. Abi Ajaya, reviewed how to meet growing financing needs and handle increasing capital requirements that exceeded domestic liquidity.
- The second session: moderated by Ms. Rehab Sallam, focused on liquidity distribution and international perspective, discussing liquidity concentration, challenges of limited research coverage, and international vision of listed companies.
- Mr. Simon Olsen led the third session, discussing readiness for listing, emphasizing that most perceived obstacles are unreal barriers more than planning challenges.
- As for the fourth session, led by Inigo Esteve exploring alternative channels to attract capital through London Stock Exchange beyond traditional major public offerings.
- The sessions concluded with a reform session aiming at developing the local market and the efforts to support cross-border regulatory frameworks.
The roundtable wrapped up emphasizing the importance of continued joint coordination and bilateral work between EGX and LSEG to support major and international companies as well as facilitate their access to various investors both locally and internationally.
The meeting concluded with a set of practical points that will be followed-up and implemented to fill the gaps discovered during the discussions. This reflects clear commitment to moving the dialogue and identified challenges into a defined action plan leading to tangible outputs contributing to effective and sustainable impact on the market.
