The Polish utility BOT GIE SA is the 150th company to be admitted as trading member to the European Energy Exchange (EEX). Since the beginning of this year the number of members has risen by 18.
“We are pleased that a growing number of Central and Eastern European companies seizes the opportunity to gain access to the European wholesale market for electricity and emissions allowances via EEX”, stated Dr. Hans-Bernd-Menzel, CEO of EEX, and added: “As one of the most important market players from Central- and Eastern Europe, BOT certainly is a very attractive partner for EEX’ participants.”
Jerzy Laskawiec, Vice President of BOT GIE SA stated: “Our membership in the European Energy Exchange is our next step towards joining the premier league of the power companies in Europe on one of the best organised market places for energy trading on the Old Continent”. And Radoslaw Rasala, Vice Director of Energy and Emissions Trading Departament is convinced that “BOT’s participation at EEX will be advantageous for both the European energy market and for the Polish power generators, as we will make our input to the further growth of the excellent liquidity at EEX and also reliable price signals will emerge from the exchange into the polish market. “ At present companies from 19 different countries are admitted to the EEX. Eleven of them are based in a Central or Eastern European country.
