Yesterday, EEX’s Chief Strategy Officer Dr. Tobias Paulun was consulted in the public hearing of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) at the European Parliament.
The hearing dealt on the new electricity market design. Paulun stated: “The draft report of rapporteur Werner Langen recognizes the importance of a strong market price signal free of political interference. Such a price signal can provide a guidance function in the electricity market, setting the much required flexibility incentives for producers and consumers. However, more European and regional coordination of market design policies is needed and distortions of cross-border trade need to be minimized to avoid inefficiencies and higher costs for end-consumers.”
