- EUA volumes in November reached a total of 98 Mt on ECX. Of this, 89 Mt transacted in futures contracts whilst over 9 Mt options were registered on the Exchange. Daily volumes averaged out at 4 Mt in futures and 0.4 Mt in options contracts.
- The options contract recorded its single most liquid trading day ever on November 21 st with 1.9 Mt traded.
- The Dec’07 price hit a record low of €0.01 on November 30 th. All time high on ECX for Phase I EUAs was €32.05 on April 19 th 2006 in the Dec’07 contract.
- With Phase I coming to a close, the Dec’07 open interest has begun to decline slightly as the market nears the expiry of the contract on December 17 th , however, it still holds nearly 47 Mt in open positions. ECX would like to remind market participants that the last contract available for trading Phase I EUAs is the Mar’08 contract, which expires on March 31 st 2008.
