Dow Jones STOXX Supersector Indexes Licensed To ETF Securities Ltd. To Underlie Three Exchange-Traded Funds

STOXX Ltd., the leading provider of European equity indexes, has licensed the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Basic Resources, Dow Jones STOXX 600 Oil & Gas and Dow Jones STOXX 600 Utilities indexes to ETF Securities Ltd. to underlie three exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The ETFs were listed today at the Irish Stock Exchange.

“The transparent and rules based Dow Jones STOXX 600 Supersector Indexes are an ideal underlying for ETFs. Also, our sector indexes are already used as the basis for numerous financial products. They measure the performance of market segments to allow market participants to take advantage of market trends,” said Werner Bürki, chairman of the STOXX Supervisory Board.

The indexes are part of the 18 Dow Jones STOXX 600 Supersector indexes, which use the ICB-Industry Classification Benchmark to categorize companies according to their primary source of revenue.

Launched on June 15, 1998, the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Supersector Indexes aim to represent the largest European companies in each of the ICB Supersectors and currently cover Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. As of September 15, 2008, the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Basic Resources Index is up 626.61% since its inception date of December 31, 1986. For the same time period, the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Oil & Gas Index is up 417.57% and the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Utilities Index has gained 517.15%1. The index universe for all Supersector indexes are all companies that are included in the Dow Jones STOXX 600 Index. Daily historical data are available back to December 31, 19861, with a base value set at 100.
