The consolidation of the European stock exchange landscape was among topics discussed at the meeting of Frankfurt Stock Exchange’s Exchange Council on Thursday. The Council welcomes the active role adopted by Deutsche Börse in this process. The Exchange Council has expressed its support for a European solution that maintains national markets, in their federal structure, and, in the opinion of the market participant groups - intermediaries, investors and issuers - represented in the body, offers the greatest benefits and strengthens Frankfurt as a financial center.
The Exchange Council wants to play an active role in shaping this process. The Exchange Council supports the approach pursued by Deutsche Börse to precede migration to a new pan-European trading platform with an intensive consultation process, thus minimizing migration costs for users.
The Exchange Council also emphasized its conviction that consolidation of the European stock exchange landscape would also make a major contribution in terms of the overall framework.
