A Chinese delegation from the Tsinghua University accompanied by Brazil’s former President, Fernando Henrique Cardoso, visited the Exchange on Thursday October 2nd. During the visit Exchange CEO Edemir Pinto proposed that discussions be initiated through the BM&FBOVESPA representative office in Shanghai, China, in order to enhance the general understanding of the Brazilian financial and capital markets with an emphasis on the hedge instruments used by the agribusiness industry.
Tsinghua University is considered one of the most prestigious schools in China and has an enrollment of approximately 30,000 students. The Chairman of the University Council, Chen Xi, led the delegation which was composed by faculty members from the School of Economics and Business Administration. Their aim is to seek partnerships with academic institutions in Brazil in order to create educational exchange programs. Before visiting BM&FBOVESPA, the delegation also toured the Instituto Fernando Henrique Cardoso.
During their visit to BM&FBOVESPA, the delegation toured the trading floors and participated in a luncheon with the Exchange’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Gilberto Mifano, and CEO, Edemir Pinto.
