Commentary

December was the best month of 2006 as far as the number of new listings is concerned. As many as 10 companies debuted on the Exchange that month, including 3 foreign ones (Cinema City, CEDC and Pegas Nonwovens) and the one company listed by the State Treasury last year - Ruch.

A new record was set up by a debuting company - Arteria. The public offering reduction rate amounted to 99.48% being the highest in the WSE history. In December for the first time in the WSE history there were two debuts in one day (20.12 – Monnari Trade and CEDC). The same situation occurred also on the following day when two more companies joined the WSE list (LSI Software and Pegas Nonwovens).

In December within the framework of the WSE IPO Partner, the Exchange signed agreements with: Ukrainian investment bank Sokrat Capital and brokerage house Suprema Securities operating in three Baltic States and Poland.

On 12 December the volume of trading in futures contracts totalled 62 131 (session and block trades) – being the highest in the WSE history.
